Giving thanks as “Faith to Move Mountains” reaches half of goal in pledges

new_bishopA message from Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.

We have some very good news about our diocesan endowment campaign, “Faith to Move Mountains.” With only 47 parishes having completed the campaign so far, we have surpassed the half-way point of our $75 million goal. Thirty-eight million dollars in pledges has come from just over 11,000 donors, and the campaign has not yet been completed in the remaining 60 parishes of the Diocese.

For those yet to participate in Faith to Move Mountains, we are engaging our parishes and donors in supporting the sustainability of the Diocese through endowments that will keep funding our major ministries well into the future. The interest from these endowments will generate valuable income year after year. Pastors, priests, deacons and the faithful have willingly stepped out of their comfort zones to ask parishioners to consider a significant sacrificial gift to the campaign. And many parishioners have accepted their invitation because they understand and see the need.
